Gas Pocket Bikes
Gas Pocket Bikes are quite literally 10:1 scaled models of full sized road going motorcycles or dirt
bikes and over the last few years pocket bikes they have grown in popularity to a point where there
is a huge fan base and racing of these miniature bikes has become a very serious business.
Now don’t be fooled into thinking that these bikes are for kids, although only around two feet tall a gas pocket
bike can reach speeds of over 40 mph and the racing versions can climb up to around the 80 mph mark! Pocket bikes
have all the same functions as their larger counterparts with lights, faring, full suspension and treaded
tires.
What they do lack is leg room and anyone taller than the average eight year old is forced to ride them with
their knees up around their ears in a very awkward looking position. Sure does make a spectacle to see a heap of
adults racing these things around at crazy speeds!
Owing to their small size, pocket bikes can also be very cheap. Around $200 can usually secure you a no-name
chinese brand bike or if quality is what you are after a Blata or Polini brand bike won’t see much change from
around one thousand dollars but the craftsmanship and life-span of the bike will be far superior.
Two-stroke engines are the common choice for a Gas Pocket Bike engine however there is also four-stroke models
available that are more fuel efficient and quieter than the two-stroke screamers.
As well as Gas Pocket Bikes there are also Electric Pocket Bikes available which are not as powerful as
their gas counterpart but noise and of course pollution is not an issue with them. The Electric Pocket Bikes are
also lighter and generally more maneuverable than a Gas Pocket Bike.
One distinct advantage of a pocket bike is it’s size, they will fit in most trayback’s and even some trunks and
storage is less of a problem. Before deciding on a Pocket Bike be sure to check your local laws regarding road use,
some states and countries are tolerant of their use with the correct license, others not so.
Also be careful, although they may look like a kids toy their performance is far from child friendly and great
care should be taken if the young ones are going to be riding them.
